As a rule, a beef animal consumes up to 3kg of feed a day for each 100kg of body weight. This means that a 300kg weaned calf will eat 9kg of high-quality lucerne hay daily to reach an average weight of 450kg.
When a young beef animal reaches between 250kg and 300kg, it is usually placed on a high-energy ration- MEGA VOERE Cattle Finisher with maize chop - for 100 days or until it reaches slaughter weight.

A month before weaning, a lamb's feed intake is 50% milk and 50% feed. Creep feed is essential at this stage as it not only helps the transition to solid feed, but lessens weaning shock. A rule of thumb is that a lamb should receive between 25kg and 30kg creep feed from day one and day 100 of its life. Sheep Grower can be used as a creep feed from day 50.

PIGS

Pig grower
Pigs are monogastric (single stomach) animals and are inefficient digesters of fibre (only 50% efficiency depending on type of fibre and age of pigs) therefore they are not suited to eating pasture alone and need to be provided with supplementary feeding. It is recommended that pigs are provided with a complete (manufactured) diet or a home mixed diet that has been formulated to meet the pig’s needs. Cereal grains are a good feed source although they are best utilised by the pig if they have been cracked, rolled or soaked.
